Lacey Oaks and Rice Cakes

This morning we wanted to go swimming on Post. We got in the car and drove out. Alegria was in her swimsuit and everything! However, we remembered as we arrived to the back gate, that the back gate is closed on the weekends. So we went the long way around to the main gate through Killen. Then we remembered as we arrived at the pool, that the pool doesn't open until noon...and noon is Alegria's naptime. So we turned around and left.

Since we were already out, we decided to stop in at a nursery in Killeen and check out the trees they had available. With the help of a salesman, we chose to buy two lacey oaks to plant in our backyard. The lacey oak grows about 2 feet per year, which is good, since we would like shade in our backyard as quickly as possible, AND it only grows to be a height of about 20-30 feet, which is good, because we have powerlines running above our backyard. It's branch width is about 25 feet, so with two of these trees, we should be able to get good shade. YAY! :)

Alegria and Isis seem to have the same expression and pose in this picture below!

Hands against the wall!

Spread 'em! You have the right to remain silent. Everything you say and do can and will be used against you in the court of law...

Alegria tries rice cake snacks for the first time. Will she like them?

Also, today Alegria finally got the courage up to actually touch and pet Isis!

It was a great day!!!
